HOW CMOMM AND FRIENDS HAVE RAISED PUBLIC AWARENESS OF WHAT’S BEEN HIDDEN
There is information the public can read on the internet - and there is
information people can consume from mainstream media via BBC, other TV
media, radio and newspapers. On many subjects these days you don’t get
all the relevant facts from mainstream media. Not by a long way.
Nowhere can this be truer than in the case of the seemingly
never-ending mystery of what happened to Madeleine McCann. Whole swathes
of the British public have no idea of the information available that
suggests Madeleine McCann was not abducted.
Mainstream media
is powerful. Many people still trust what they say. To many, things said
on the internet do not seem to have the credibility that they do when
seen on TV, in the main print media, or in a book.
CMOMM’s
influence is primarily through the extensive library of information we
have, the research threads, the lively discussion about points of
evidence, and more.
We’ve always been conscious of the need to
get the attention of the public, the attention of the government, the
attention of politicians and opinion-formers and so on.
This
is hard to do, partly due to draconian UK libel laws. The McCanns are
litigious. For example, even suggesting that the cadaver dogs of police
dog handler Martin Grime, who detected the smell of death in 17
locations associated with the McCanns (their flat, their clothes and
their car), were alerting to the past presence of Madeleine in those
locations, could be considered libel.
Below is a brief summary
of some attempts made by CMOMM, our friends and others to get the word
out to the general public about all the hidden information regarding
Madeleine’s disappearance that the mainstream media have deprived us
of.
We begin with the Portuguese Police Co-ordinator who led the initial investigation into Madeleine’s disappearance.
Gonçalo Amaral
Dr Gonçalo Amaral led the investigation into Madeleine McCann’s
disappearance from the first day of 3 May 2007 to 2 October 2007, when
he was removed from his post by the Portuguese Ministry of Justice after
making public fully justified criticisms of British government
interference in the case. It later emerged that the Portuguese Minister
of Justice had informed the then British Prime Minister, Gordon Brown,
of the decision before Dr Amaral had been told.
In order to
correct a vast amount of disinformation about the case and his own role
as head of the investigation, Dr Amaral later resigned from the police
and wrote a powerful book on the case, A Verdade de Mentira: "The Truth of the Lie".
It sold 200,000 copies in Portugal, has been officially translated into
ten other languages and published in over 30 countries.
It
was never officially translated into English, but a voluntary
translation by a lady known on the internet as ‘AnnaEsse’ appeared in
late 2008, and you can read it on the CMOMM Forum, here https://jillhavern.forumotion.net/t16000-goncalo-amaral-maddie-the-truth-of-the-lie, and on the blog I created, http://goncaloamaraltruthofthelie.blogspot.com/.
The Portuguese TV company TVi made a documentary based on the book which has been seen by millions can be viewed here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x_ZdDTsFC2g.
Dr Amaral was sued for libel damages by the McCanns in June 2008. They
alleged that his book had ‘damaged the search for Madeleine’. This
extraordinary libel case lasted seven years due to the vagaries of the
Portuguese judicial system and involved Dr Amaral in huge expenses as he
was forced to appeal (successfully) against very bad decisions by the
Portuguese courts. He eventually succeeded in defeating the claim
against him at a Portuguese Supreme Court hearing in April 2015.
Many members of CMOMM contributed to a legal defence fund to assist him, to which we link on the forum, here https://jillhavern.forumotion.net/t11397-latest-gofundme-amaral-legal-defence-fund-reaches-50835-at-1-10pm-20th-october-with-2741-separate-donations.
Gonçalo Amaral made the running in Portugal in respect of publicising what the mainstream media had been keeping hidden.
In the U.K., meanwhile, the role of trying to inform the public of the facts about Madeleine McCann fell initially to…
Tony Bennett and the Madeleine Foundation
There is a separate article about the work of the Madeleine Foundation to be found elsewhere on our forum, see here ____.
Here we just list some of the ways that Tony and the Madeleine Foundation he helped to found made an impact on the public:
AN ATTEMPTED PROSECUTION
In November 2007, after two months’ research on the disappearance of
Madeleine McCann, having read thousands of posts on the internet
bitterly criticising the McCanns for leaving their three children alone
for long periods whilst they were over 100 yards’ walk away from a
restaurant where they were eating, Tony decided the McCanns should be
answerable to a court for their actions. He discovered that under the
Council of Europe’s Hague Convention, parents of children allegedly
neglected whilst abroad should be prosecuted in their own country. He
applied for a summons alleging that by leaving their children, all aged
under four, unattended for six days in a row whilst at dinner – which
they had publicly claimed in a newspaper article – they had committed an
offence under the Children and Young Persons Act 1933. He informed the Loughborough Echo of his application, who gave the issue front page treatment.
Widespread news coverage followed, including these newspaper articles in the Daily Telegraph and the Metro, which are still on the internet:
The attempted prosecution failed after the Attorney General informed
the Court that it should decline to proceed with the summons as it was
not clear that such a summons could be brought in the English courts.
Tony was interviewed for Talk Sport and by ‘shock jock’ James Whale.
THE FORMATION OF THE MADELEINE FOUNDATION
This media exposure led to Tony being inundated by emails, some from
abroad, urging him to do still more to get a message out to the public
that Madeleine may not have been abducted. As a result he helped to
found the Madeleine Foundation as a community organization and
campaigning group. Dozens joined after it was founded in January 2008.
You can read more about the Madeleine Foundation here: https://jillhavern.forumotion.net/f10-madeleine-foundation
The Madeleine Foundation website was set up in August 2008 with a
startling article titled: ’30 Reasons which suggest that Madeleine
McCann was not abducted’.
The Madeleine Foundation’s book
‘What Really Happened to Madeleine McCann: 60 Reasons which suggest at
Madeleine McCann was not abducted’ followed on 7 December 2008. More
people joined the Madeleine Foundation and people began buying the book
in significant numbers.
A flood of people donated to a special
fund to ensure the Madeleine Foundation’s book was sent to all MPs,
members of the House of Lords and leading journalists and
opinion-formers. Several dozen replies were received.
Hundreds of thousands of expats were able to hear Tony explain the
Madeleine Foundation’s views on the disappearance of Madeleine McCann on
Bolland’s Radio Europe broadcasts’, in a series of interviews, which are now available on YouTube, here:
During 2009, the Madeleine Foundation produced a 4-page leaflet, ‘What
Really Happened to Madeleine McCann? 10 Reasons which suggest that
Madeleine McCann was not abducted’, tens of thousands of which were
distributed across the country.
EVIDENCE SUBMITTED TO PARLIAMENT
In early 2009, the Madeleine Foundation submitted a lengthy response to
the Parliamentary Select Committee on Press Standards, and its officers
were invited to attend the session where Gerry McCann, his chief
publicist Clarence Mitchell and Adam Tudor, Head of Carter Ruck, the
libel lawyers, attended to give evidence.
In March 2009
members of the Madeleine Foundation delivered thousands of leaflets
around Oxford University on the occasion of Clarence Mitchell being
invited to speak at the Oxford Students Union, where he boasted of his
campaign work on behalf of the McCanns.
On 1 August 2009, the
Madeleine Foundation held a one-day conference in Essex where future
campaigning plans were discussed. It also held several regional meetings
for interested members of the public.
PUBLICITY ABOUT LEAFLETING IN LEICESTERSHIRE
Later in August, Madeleine Foundation members distributed their ’10
Reasons’ leaflet in Leicestershire, including a ‘leaflet drop’ of around
150 leaflets in the McCanns’ own village, Rothley. Unknown supporters
of the Madeleine Foundation later that evening posted up some of the
posters on trees and noticeboards around the village.
This led
to extensive media coverage, with the Madeleine Foundation’s Chairman
being interviewed on BBC TV East Midlands. Days later, a front-page
story about the Madeleine Foundation appeared in the Sunday Express.
This unprecedented publicity led to tens of thousands of people
flocking to the Madeleine Foundation to see for themselves what it was
campaigning about. Hundreds more bought the Foundation’s
increasingly-popular book, ’60 Reasons’, many also asked for copies of
their 4-page leaflet. A couple of dozen new members joined.
This further burst of publicity led to the McCanns sending legal letters
to the officers of the Madeleine Foundation. Many articles on their
website had to be removed, and the McCanns demanded the book be
withdrawn from any further sale or distribution. The group suspended
most of its activities.
In 2010, the Madeleine
Foundation was covered in a 9-minute feature by the BBC’s Inside Out
programme, who filmed members handing out leaflets in Bristol. Their
programme can be viewed here:
An expert police superintendent’s view on the case, by ‘PeterMac’
One of our earliest members on CMOMM was a retired Nottinghamshire
Police Superintendent, Peter Macleod, known to us all on the forum as
‘PeterMac’.
He has brought the eyes and trained investigation
procedures of a highly experienced senior police officer to the forum.
It is impossible to exaggerate the quality of the tireless research work
he has put into analysing all the relevant evidence concerning the
reported disappearance of Madeleine. You’ll find much of his work on the
forum.
His supreme achievement is to have produced a
brilliant, FREE e-book, documenting the key lines of evidence in the
case, now running to 33 chapters. Each chapter lays out the relevant
facts clearly and with every single point fully referenced for you to
check.
It is linked on the forum here https://jillhavern.forumotion.net/f43-petermac-s-free-e-book-what-really-happened-to-madeleine-mccann and on his e-book blog here http://whatreallyhappenedtomadeleinemccann.blogspot.com/. .
The Richard Hall documentaries
In late 2013, an engineering graduate who for years had been concerned
about the mainstream media’s failure to cover a range of topical issues,
including covert operations by government secret service organisations
in the UK and the USA, turned his attention to the Madeleine McCann
case. He had been fascinated by the controversial BBC Crimewatch McCann
Special, a one-hour-long TV show, watched by 7 million in the UK, which
once again tried to sell the abduction narrative to the country. The
programme highlighted a brand new suspect, an abductor claimed to have
been seen by an Irish family at 10pm the night Madeleine disappeared.
He was not convinced by the programme.
He had for years made a series of programmes under the Rich Planet
name and was known for making nationwide tours revealing matters of
interest to the general public not normally covered in the mainstream
media.
With the help of much of the material on the CMOMM
forum, he set about making a 4-hour documentary film titled: ‘Buried by
Mainstream Media: The True Story of Madeleine McCann’.
Released
in August 2014, it made a huge impact on the internet. Millions watched
it. Many dozens uploaded it to the internet on their own channels.
Since then, Richard has regularly featured the Madeleine McCann case on his tours.
He has made four more Madeleine McCann documentaries, each between 2.5
and 4 hours in length. By and large they support the hypotheses about
what happened to Madeleine that we hold here on CMOMM.
In
addition, he has made a highly informative and entertaining YouTube
video on the untruths told by the McCanns’ spokesman Clarence Mitchell
during a visit to Australia.
Richard is a member of CMOMM.
Here are the titles and links for his five documentaries and the
YouTube video about Clarence Mitchell. They can also be bought or viewed
on his own website at www.richplanet.net
TITLES AND LINKS FOR RICHARD HALL’S FIVE MADELEINE MCCANN DOCUMENTARIES
Film 1: True Story of Madeleine McCann
Excellent overview of the whole case
Film 2: The Phantoms
Examines four separate claims made about a suspect abductor (Tannerman,
Smithman, Crecheman and Sagresman) and finds them all to be probable
fabrications
Film 3: When Madeleine Died?
Highly detailed film which makes a powerful case for saying that
Madeleine must have died late on Sunday 2nd April, four days before she
was reported missing
Film 4: Embedded Confessions
Fascinating extended interview in Maine, U.S.A. with one of the
world’s leading Statement Analysts, Peter Hyatt, who suggests that
embedded in the McCanns’ body language and words is an admission of
their guilt
Film 5: Madeleine - Why the Cover-Up
Discusses in detail the suggestion that there has been a highly
organized cover-up of Madeleine’s death by the British secret services
and examines the controversial behaviour of Robert Murat, the initial
chief suspect, both before and after Madeleine’s reported
disappearance

Lizzy Taylor, Researcher from Canada
Lizzy Taylor, a British expat now living in Canada,
has been an active member of the forum for many years. Known on the
internet as ‘HideHo’, from the very early days she has researched the
case in detail and chronicled some of the main facts, controversies,
contradictions and changes of story. She has a whole section of her own
on the forum here, https://jillhavern.forumotion.net/f8-hideho-s-videos-and-research
Probably her 100-plus videos of various aspects of the Madeleine McCann have by now been viewed by tens of millions.
Here are some links to some of her most noteworthy videos: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCa-cPOJkr6cj01cfkumpYVg
The TV interviews given by well-known U.S Criminal Profiler, Pat Brown
A prominent Criminal Profiler from the U.S., Pat Brown, who runs her
own Criminal profiling agency, called the abduction of Madeleine McCann a
hoax in the very first few weeks after Madeleine was reported missing.
She has been interviewed a number of times on U.S. TV explaining to an
American audience that there are multiple clues that Madeleine died on
the McCanns’ holiday in Portugal and that they, together with others
faked her abduction. She is a member of CMOMM and an occasional
contributor. Recently she was interviewed by Australian senior
journalist Mark Saunokonoko for his series of podcasts broadcast by Australian TV network 9.au. https://www.9news.com.au/meet-the-team/nine-com-au/mark-saunokonoko
One of Pat Brown’s TV interviews, which has now been seen over two million times on YouTube, can be seen at this link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RaLZ6vf0Ybc
Pat Brown has written an ebook with her own analysis of the Madeleine
McCann case; she differs from CMOMM however in that she maintains,
against the evidence, that Madeleine suffered a fatal accident after 6pm
on the day she was reported missing. On CMOMM we suggest the evidence
overwhelmingly points to her having died much earlier in the week.
Wendy Murphy, former U.S. prosecutor and now child sexual abuse and psychology expert
Wendy Murphy is an experienced professional in both the legal and
childcare fields. She is an author in her range of expertise. Also a
Child Advocate, she has analysed in depth the notorious murder of
six-year-old JonBenet Ramsey and the murder of two-year old Caylee
Anthony. In both cases, she saw evidence of serious sexual assault which
she said had both been covered up by high-level officials.
On
the day (14 October 2013) when the BBC and the Metropolitan Police
transmitted their hour-long Crimewatch Special on the disappearance of
Madeleine McCann, she was asked to give her expert opinion on the case
by well-known U.S. TV station Fox News. She was asked to comment on two new efits of a suspected abductor shown that day for the first time on British television.
She was unusually forthright. She declared that the abduction was a
hoax and that the efits were of ‘a fake suspect’. She told the millions
watching Fox News that night that the McCanns’ behaviour showed
that they were not telling the truth. Why else, she asked, would Kate
McCann refuse to answer any of 48 questions put to her by the Portuguese
Police? Why, she asked, was it necessary for the McCanns to hire the
top lawyers and public relations experts in the whole of the U.K.? Her
forthright views shocked the interviewer who had clearly up to then
believed the ‘official’ narrative that Madeleine had been stolen from
her bed by a mystery abductor.
